Things Osun businesses should watch as APC, PDP’s campaign committees storm the state

As the high-powerful campaign committees constituted by the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party move into Osun State for the campaign rallies, Infoprations’ check has revealed that small and medium businesses will benefit from a significant number of people who will move into cities and towns in 9 federal constituencies during the rallies.
The All Progressives Congress, the ruling party, recently announced a 63 member committee that will lead the campaign trains in Osogbo, Iwo, Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Ila-Orangun, Ikirun, Ede, Ejigbo and Ikire. The check also reveals that the 44 members committee of the People’s Democratic Party will also thread the APC’s path by marketing its candidates and programmes to the Osun voters in the cities.
Since the 9 constituencies were created based on proportion, landmass, population and other variables, Infoprations expects businesses to explore these in addition to the number of people and aids that will be on the entourage of each member of the campaign committees. Going by the Minimum Entourage Per Trip (MEPT), the 63 member committee of the APC is likely to result to 630 people while the 44 member committee of the PDP will lead to 440 people coming into the state.
These people will need accommodation and other hospitality services. This is where hotels and restaurants in the state become useful. Operators of over 270 hotels especially those in the state capital need to create innovative solutions. During the campaign rallies, supporters of the parties will depend on the use of motorcycles, mini-bus and cabs for their movement within and outside the nine constituencies. Infoprations expects transporters to harness this opportunity.
In Osogbo, parties’ supporters and politicians will move in and out of Oke-Fia, Ajegunle, Old garage/Orisumbare Olaiya/ Ogo Oluwa, Igbona / Ayetoro Area; among others. Within Oke-Fia, motorcycle as a means of transportation is likely to be restricted during campaign for security reason and accident prevention. In this regard, taxi will be the preferred transport mode.
Food vendors and other small businesses are also expected to take advantage of the campaign rallies by providing what people will need the most and derive the needed values.
