Osun 2018: How age, qualifications, experience will affect Adeleke, Oyetola’s prospect

By September 22, electorates in Osun State are expected to be at various polling units for the governorship election. In July, the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party chose Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Ademola Adeleke as the flag bearers respectively.
Parties, candidates and supporters have been campaigning since then, using different tactics to woo voters ahead of the election. Observation reveals that campaign messages have been based on issues affecting the state, personality and qualifications of the candidates.
Based on the public information on the two main contenders for the governorship position in the state, Infoprations examined the chance of the candidates along with the total results polled by their parties during 2014 election.

Analysis reveals that educational qualifications of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola would ensure 59.5% votes while age and experience would only account for 7.1%. For the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate, analysis suggests that current educational status, age and experience would have negative impact on his victory in September. A 0.4% reduction would occur through the qualifications while age and experience would account for 1.2% decrease.
These insights suggest that parties and supporters of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola could emphasis his qualifications and experience in campaign messages while followers of Senator Ademola Adeleke needs to develop their messages in line with the physical achievements of the Senator in the last one year.

Infoprations' Notes to the Chart: Numbers for Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola's do not mean he has two first degrees, three second degrees and four professional certifications. They only represent ordering of the qualifications. Senator Ademola Adeleke only possesses WAEC, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission's recent information.
