2019 Elections: Agriculture, Resource Flow, Youth Development Occupy Seyi Makinde’s Manifesto for Oyo State
Like the
Presidential candidate of his party, Engineer Seyi Makinde of the People’s
Democratic Party who is contesting for the governorship position in Oyo State
has released his strategic plan for the state ahead of the 2019 general
elections.
In the plan,
Engineer Makinde pointed out that “the major policy thrust of PDP’s intervention is to revitalize the
economy of Oyo State and maximize the exploitation of the various potentials of
the state to create wealth, cultivate the private sector and improve the
welfare of the populace. Hence, the suggested policies and action plans to
achieve this goal.”
The plan
announced on his professional
platform a few hours ago has been receiving reactions from Nigerian
professionals. “This is a good one for Oyo State and democracy, a comprehensive
manifesto,” Ayobami Adegoke, one of the professionals who reacted to the plan
said. He added that Engineer Makinde, when becoming governor, should consider
Private Public Partnership for infrastructural development in the state. “Oyo
State is large and needs power and good road network, which government cannot
achieve alone,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Infoprations’ analysis shows that
Engineer Makinde is most likely to concentrate resources at his disposal to the
development of agriculture and food security, domestic resource flow, youth
empowerment, social inclusion and protection.
Dissection
of the policy thrust itemised for each section of the state by Infoprations reveals that these sections
are favoured with 2 policy thrusts, indicating his readiness to address
socioeconomic challenges facing the people of the state through the sections. These
sections were also discovered to have a significant number of strategies.
