Arising
from its special meeting, the Senate of the University of Ibadan has denied any
wrongdoing in the University’s admission process as being insinuated by the
Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.
According
to the Institution, through a press release issued by Mrs Faluyi Olubunmi, the
Registrar, attention of the Senate was drawn to the article “Manipulation
of Admission Process through University Portals” published in the JAMB
Bulletin of 9 December, 2019 and two national dailies. While the article
accused three public universities of manipulation of the admission process, it
did not mention the name of any university but went ahead to put an image of
the University of Ibadan in the article.
The
release states further that the university had never been involved in any form of manipulation. In
addition, the Senate resolved to continue
to maintain impeccable and flawless admission procedures in line with its
commitment to excellence.
In its efforts of ensuring continuous innovation
and standardization of the process, the release indicates that the Undergraduate
Admissions Office has been marked for more facilities upgrade for strengthening
internal admission processes and support JAMB’s CAPS.
Our checks also established that the Institution
had on several occasions stressed its support for the Central Admissions
Processing System introduced by Professor Ishaq Oloyode, to eradicate the problem of
admission racketeering.
