BETWEEN 'MARKET-WORSHIPPERS' AND A PREACHER

Nigeria, the most populous nation in Africa is known for different activities, which cut across its endowed ethnic groups. For the first comer to the country, such person did not need any further clarification on whether the country is actually deserves being called 'the most religious country in the world'.But, a visit to the major cities, towns and even villages will convince the person more. Churches and Mosques are located in any available space; be it in the market or plantation areas.The recent development has shown that an average Nigerian preacher can go to any length in reaching his goers.Oke-Ode, a popular town in Ifelodun Local Council of Kwara state,Nigeria.In this town, most houses are built along the roadside.From Ilorin, the state capital.The first point of attraction is the romanesque palace of the town's paramount King by the left-hand side.Few drive from the palace, is the main market.On every market day, sellers and buyers come from far and near.Corp members are not left out too.On a market day, a preacher was noticed suddenly with a megaphone.Funnily enough, the man is using English Language, which most people grumbled about. They believed that the preacher has chosen wrong language.They started saying that, A ku mo ohun ti alakori e ku n so, meaning, we don't even know he was saying.
In fact, the messages would have been meaningful not gibberish, if the right language has been used.Because, majority of 'market-goers and worshippers understand Yoruba Language.In this context, effective communication is questionable!
