Osun 2018: PDP ‘adopted’ Infoprations’ clustering, as Adeleke wins party’s ticket for September 22’s governorship election
As the
two prominent political parties in Osun state completed their primary elections
yesterday, information has it that the People’s Democratic Party elected
Senator Ademola Adeleke as the party’s flag bearer for the September 22
governorship election in the state.
Senator
Adeleke emerged as the party’s candidate having polled a total of 1,569 votes to beat his closet rival Dr Akin Ogunbiyi who
scored 1, 562 votes.
Infoprations
has earlier predicted that the party has the chance of winning the governorship
election when the candidate is selected from Iwo, Ayedaade and Ede North for
the first consideration while Ayedire, Isokan and Ede South should be the second unit of
selecting candidate.
In the
same prediction, the All Progressive Congress, the ruling party was equally
advised to select her candidate from Ola-Oluwa, Ede North and Ayedaade.
According to the projection, these councils should be prioritised before
considering Iwo, Isokan or Ede South.
However, the party did not select her
candidate from any council in the region. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola who emerged as
the party’s flag bearer for the governorship election hails from the Central
region amid withdrawal from the primary election by contestants from West
region, citing manipulation of the process in favour of a preferred candidate.
In his reaction after he won the party’s
ticket, Oyetola
acknowledged that his party has war ahead which must be won. “We have only won the battle. The war lies ahead of us. Our
opponents from other parties increase their arsenal to fight with us.”
