33.3% of Lagos residents share leftover to cater for the weak, ensure unity with neighbours


The results from the Infoprations’ Series on Sustainable Development have shown that Lagos residents are contributing to responsible consumption and chronic poverty reduction. Analysis reveals that 33.3% of 109 Lagos residents are sharing excess and uneaten food with the weak, laying inclusive neighbourhood foundation in the city. This is connected with the strong relationship that exists among the people.
Analysis further establishes that 83.3% of the residents give or share leftover due to values and norms relating to inclusive neighbourhood they cherished. For the residents who usually have excess food, it is essential to share with friends, professional colleagues and landlords because there is a need to create equal social status in the neighbourhood. Sharing leftover was equally found to be a potential solution to difficult socioeconomic problem of some residents in the city.
