PCI Series: ADP’s proposed policy statement on agriculture in Osun: What is in it for the electorate?
As part of its
programmes for the people in Osun State, Action Democratic Party has promised
members of informal workers’ union, the Federation of Informal Workers of
Nigeria and Osun indigenes agricultural revolution if the party is voted in the
September 22 governorship election. The Deputy Governorship Candidate of ADP,
Professor Adeolu Durotoye on behalf of Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti made the
proposed policy statement during a Town Hall meeting organized by Germany-based
Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in the state capital, Osogbo. Analysis of the
statement by the PCI indicates that the party is confident of delivering the
promise to the electorate and critical in its presentation of the statement.
Over 55% of the total 447 words used by the party were on
state, members of the union, the party, forthcoming governorship election,
completion of abandoned projects, agriculture, economy and job creation for the
youths. The party believes that through agricultural revolution induced by
stree-free credit facilities, it would help members of the union to advance in
their businesses, analysis suggests.
Apart from the informal workers in the state, the party
equally assured teachers and other workers in the state of prompt payment of
their salaries and other emoluments once in power.
"Our administration,
once voted into power, would have zero-tolerance for abandoned projects
scattered across the state. "We however assure you that our team would complete
all projects abandoned by all the previous administrations, while all those
embarked upon by us would be completed on schedule," he stressed.
With these promises, would voters be interested in the
candidacy of Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti and his party by voting them in the
September 22 election?
As far as Osun is concerned,we must develop our Agricultural potential without lipstick exercise. A great potential that can feed state like Lagos that has enough funds but have little or no farmland.
ReplyDeleteWe should be able to exchange with state like Ogun state in the area of value chain Agricultural benefits. At least,we can explore opportunities of supplying raw materials to numbers of industries in the state.
After considering the proposal of the ADP governorship candidate, it was specified the major concentration will be agriculture to provide jobs for the teaming youth. Rice, Palm are very good products that can bring so much forex to the state. With their implication strategy they have at their disposal I believe they can make this work. I give them my vote.
ReplyDeleteI believe Osun State can come back to life through agricultural production, if the policy is being implement, meanwhile we have all what it takes to get this done, our land are fertile & good willing populace as well, I wish ADP get to the sit, so as to be implemented.
ReplyDeleteOsun State has a great potential in transforming the State through Agriculture. I have no doubt that if ADP under the leadership of Alh. Moshood Adeoti is voted into power, this will come to reality and the State will be free of hunger and penury.
