In the last few hours, it appears that Nigerian politicians are
not ready to leave the defection crisis behind them and focus on governance as
Senate President; Dr Bukola Saraki reacted to a statement
credited to the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives
Congress, Yekini Nabena,
calling him a traitor and unfits to be the Senate President. According to the Senate President’s Spokesman,
“the All Progressives Congress had not recovered
from Tuesday’s “failed attempt” to change the leadership of the Senate.”
Meanwhile, Infoprations
analysis of the two actors’ previous statements on the crisis shows that the
tone used by the Senate President’s Spokesman in the statement
issued after Dr Bukola Saraki defected to the People’s Democratic Party aligns
with his current reaction while the All Progressives Congress failed to
maintain its previous
tone on the crisis.
Analysis
reveals that Dr Bukola Saraki was constructive in his exit statement from the
APC and happy that he returned to the PDP, the party where he started his
political career, while the APC believed that the party will survive without the
Senate President and happy that he left.
