In Q2 2018, NBS says Nigeria spent N50b on Macaroni import



Latest Trade Report from the National Bureau of Statistics indicates that Nigeria spent N49,997,028,579 in second quarter of 2018, imported Durum wheat also known as macaroni wheat. The report states that the cost was on non-seed Durum wheat. The amount constituted 1.99% of the total import recorded during the quarter.
Over N35b was also spent during the period on the import of Durum wheat, Seed. According to the report, the cost constituted 1.41% of the total import in Q2 2018. Information says “Durum wheat is the second most cultivated species of wheat after common wheat, although it only represents 5% to 8% of global wheat production.
