Infoprations’ prediction confirmed as Atiku wins PDP’s Presidential Ticket

The main opposition party in Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party, has elected Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2019 election. Alhaji Atiku, former Vice President during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo will slug it out with the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, who has also been elected as the flagbearer of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, few days ago across the country and ratified by select members of the party in Abuja yesterday.
According to the results of the primary held in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State and announced few hours ago, Alhaji Atiku polled 1,585 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, who had 693 votes. The results aligned with the Infoprations’ early prediction that  Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, is most likely to win the party’s ticket. Infoprations’ Popularity Analysis indicates that people have sought knowledge on Alhaji Atiku more than Sokoto State’s Governor Aminu Tambuwal in the last 7 days.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s popularity index was 5,008. Senator Kwankwanso closely followed Alhaji Atiku by 3,770 index while Governor Aminu Tambuwal had 1,488 popularity index.
As Alhaji Atiku picks the party’s ticket, public and political analysts believe that the party will face many hurdles before the general elections. Choice of competent Vice President Candidate will be one of the challenges the party will experience, which will make or mar the party’s chances during the election. “If he can't get an astute manager like Peter Obi on board, he should get Okonjo Iweala or Femi Adesina on board let's show APC what a national movement looks like,” a political analysts said.
Another obstacle is the possibility of leaving the party by the aspirants who lost during the primary election. To avert this challenge, Infoprations’ check reveals that all aspirants who participated in the Saturday’s primary election have earlier compelled to sign undertaking to support who may emerge as candidate.
