Nigerian Professionals Furious as Oyo’s PDP Governorship Candidate Complains about Poster Mutilation

As parties and politicians intensify their campaign strategies across the country for the 2019 general elections, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for governorship election in Oyo state informed professionals 16 hours ago that his campaign posters are being removed or defaced in some parts of the state.
“It has been brought to our notice that our posters which we put up when campaigns officially commenced are being removed or defaced. This is tyrannical and must be resisted. Our people in hashtag#OyoState are ready to elect a responsible and responsive government! hashtag#SeyiMakinde2019 hashtag#OmiTuntun2019 hashtag#PDP,” he said.
His announcement has received different reactions from the Nigerian professionals. They were of the view that the PDP candidate needs to inform his campaign team to do the right things. According to them, public places need to be respected and posters should not constitute environmental threats.
“If they are placed in the right places, they won’t be “defaced” I see no reason for posters to be pasted anywhere just because of political ambition. Moreover, before and after the election, who is responsible for the pollution caused by these posters?” a professional queried.
Advising Engineer Seyi Makinde, one of the professionals said “I am not sure if that shed for the Traffic Wardens is a right place.” “Billboards, souvenirs, social media, and electronic media among others are potential spots for campaign with minimal pollution,” another professional pointed out.
