In the last 5 years, people and
businesses’ interest about electricity and air conditioning has been on
increase than water supply system and auditing facility, our analysis suggests.
In our analysis, there is no connection between interest in auditing and health
facilities at home and workplace. This has established the fact that people and
businesses are not prioritising auditing facilities capable of thwarting their
daily operations and attaining the desired objectives.
For the water supply system, our analysis
shows that auditing related with it strongly. We discovered that the auditing
interest has been huge on water supply system, water supply pipe and water
dispenser.
Our analysts observe that the high interest is a sign that people
and businesses are ready to avoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas
fluorescens, Chryseomonas luteola, Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter sp.,
Cedecea sp., Citrobacter sp., Salmonella sp., Chromobacter violaceum,
Providencia rettgeri, and Escherichia coli recently discovered in drinking
water from water dispenser machines in Ibadan’s homes and
offices in Victoria Island.
Cyanobacteriais another bacterium in
water that periodic auditing of water supply systems, most importantly public
dams could reveal. A study reports that eight cyanobacteria bloom species are in
coastal waters in South Western Nigeria excluding Lekki lagoon.
From our analysis, we have also learnt
that a connection exists between the interest in auditing and electricity,
indicating the need to audit electrical appliances such as power socket,
electric water heater. However, the interest was not strong like what we found
for the water supply.
The link between the interest in auditing
and air conditioning was negative. This indicates poor dispositions towards
periodic auditing of parts that constitute the facility. The negativity is a
pointer that users of the facility are likely to be denied the full benefits of
having the facility before and during emergency situations.
People and
businesses are also denying themselves the opportunity of knowing overall
energy consumption and carbon emissions associated with the building that hosts
the facility attributable to cooling activities.
When the overall energy consumption is not
known, the determination of energy performance to know energy efficiency
becomes problematic. Likewise, when the functional status of each part of an
air conditioning is hidden, knowing air quality to determine quality cooling
that enhances man’s health and operational purposes becomes difficult.
