Muslims, Imams, Political Leaders’ voices on 2018’s Eid-el-Fitr

Few hours ago, Muslims in countries where the new moon has sighted have trouped to praying grounds to observe two rakat prayers that signify the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the month-long fasting followed by people.
Across the world, Muslims are in joyful mood, thanking Allah for making them see the end of the month and opportunity to observe the necessary prayers and doing good deeds during the month.  Some Nigerian Muslims described their experiences during the month as the best in their lives, especially abstinence from drinking, eating and sexual intercourse from dawn to dusk.
Honourable Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, however, wants the Muslims to sustain the gains of the holy month. In his Sallah message to the Muslim community in the country, the Speaker enjoined them to sustain the lessons of Ramadan and replicate same in their daily lives for a better society.
Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, Lagos State Deputy Governor, on her part, called on Lagosians to continue to love and tolerate one another and allow the existing peaceful relations among people of different tribes and religions in the state to continue after Ramadan.
Adebule urged all Muslims to imbibe the tenets of the Ramadan which, she said, including the fear of God, love for one another, tolerance, equality, obedience, abstinence from sins, discipline and caring for the welfare of fellow human beings irrespective of religions, colour or tongue.
Meanwhile, Muslims in some part of the world are celebrating the festival in low key due to internal and external conflicts they are experiencing. In Rohingya, the festival is being celebrated quietly after fire razes houses in refugees’ camps.
