Dino Melaye is a Nigerian Senator, representing Kogi West at the 8th National Assembly. Information from his family members reveals that he was “kidnapped” on his way to Kogi State from Abuja to attend the court session for his gun running trial. News media have similarly reported that the Police on Thursday said they are investigating the “purported kidnap” of the Senator.
As the
Police and members of the Senator’s political party, the People’s Democratic
Party exchange words on the whereabouts of the Senator, Nigerians have been
expressing their supports and disappointment on the incident since yesterday. While
some are of the opinion that the Kogi lawmaker might have staged his own
abduction, others said they were tired of the various drama playing out in
Nigeria.
“I
wholeheartedly condemn the abduction of @dino_melaye. I implore those that have
kidnapped him to return him home safely to his family and loved ones. I urge
the Federal Government to do its job and protect the Nigerian people before it
is too late,” a Nigerian noted on Twitter, reacting to the incident.
