South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Nigeria top the list of unsafe countries in Africa

The mid-year report of various crimes in African countries indicates that South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria are the top four countries the high level of crimes on the continent. Tanzania, Libya, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Egypt and Algeria followed accordingly.
Tunisia is at the bottom of the top 15 countries on the continent released by the Numbeo, an international online database that aggregates citizens’ views across the world on the level of crime, health care, property prices, pollution, traffic, travel and quality of life.
Despite being within the range of 20 and 40, considered as low score for the safety index, South Africa is adjudged as the country with the highest crime rates, having 76.08 score out of 100 used to gauge crime rates. Namibia followed the Southern African country with 68.10 score for her crime rates and 31.90 score for the safety window.
Kenya and Nigeria had 63.63 and 61.48 score respectively for their level of crimes while they posed 36.37 and 38.52 score respectively for the safety index. These scores establish the level of crimes being perpetrated in the top countries.
A recent report places Nigeria at 22nd of the top 25 countries in the world highest murder rates. This is not a surprise to the citizens and civil societies because since January this year Nigeria is notorious for extremely high rates of all violent crimes. Every year, about 20 out of 100,000 Nigerian people are victims of a murder. Moreover, hideous practices of raping, domestic violence or even slavery remain common things in the country.
